Might want to wait before installing iTunes 12.0.1!

I am up early with time on my hands and coffee in my cup.
I installed the latest version of iTunes, and it is different.
If you don't like iTunes, and don't have time to pull hair, I'd wait on this one.
I've not had enough time to decide if it's messed up totally, or I need more coffee, but there you go.
It works, but not easy for me yet.

Please do tell how the learning curve goes. I'd love to see some feedback before I decide whether to download.

I'll post my findings soon as I understand what I think is helpful.

It works pretty much the same as the old iTunes 11 did, according to my own personal experiences. The only difference is that you can't press control-S to put it back to the old classic style treeview. It's still reasonably accessible. There are just a few more hoops to jump around than usual.

Post 5 by KC8PNL (The best criticism of the bad is the practice of the better.) on Tuesday, 21-Oct-2014 8:32:09

I don't have time for the hoops at this time, so am holding off until I need it for beta testing iOS builds or something. I see no compelling reason to upgrade, but due to bugs in iOS 8, I still run 7.1.2 on my iPhone I use all the time.

I agree poster 4, but others have such a difficult time with iTunes.
If it is working, don't fix it. These hoops will cause them to have to say bad things, and well, we don't want them cursing. Smile.
It is different, and as poster 5 stated, there is no reason to upgrade it really unless you want the few extra features you don't probably use anyway.

I miss being able to copy a folder from windows explorer and pasting into a playlist folder.

That feature comes in handy when you want to remove certain files in bolk.

You can do that poster. Copy the song to your clipboard, then come back to your playlist, and just put it in.
That works both ways. You copy the song either way, and paste it.
Make sure you are putting it in the iTunes playlist, and not the playlist on your iDevice. In that case, it doesn't paste.
Now that I’ve used the new version for a bit, I find it just as easy, but different.
It seems to me using the control +J keystroke, and a tab, that brings up the view options is the best way to get started when you open your player.
After that, the methods are same as always, if you’ve been using it for a while.
I am using Jaws 15/16 and am not running any scripts this time out, and all seems to be available to me.

Thanks, it turns out I was pasting into the wrong field.

Apparently you need to paste where the song will end up, so it's a press of the F6 key twice or until you reach the list of songs or it says 0 items.

It also works well using NVDA.

There are a few parts of the store that have strange labels on the links, that's both with JAWS and NVDA, but apart from that, most things work well.

Sweet! Good to hear someone else is having success.

Does anyone know how to rename radiostations you create?

I did know how to do it, but that was with an older version of iTunes, so either I forgot how, or they changed that as well.

Simply doing an f 2 on the station name doesn't do a thing.

Not to be confused with the stations already there, I'm refering to the ones you create yourself.

Any help would be appreciated.

The only two things that I don't like about this new version, is when I'm using the computer to charge my phone, I can't seem to get a battery percentage readout on the computer itself. I have to get it from the phone. Also, I can't seem to figure out where to see a list of the music I have on the phone specifically, and remove/add songs to that list, either. I've had to resort to deleting from the phone itself, and not adding anything for a time since I prefer to manually add my music.

Mine I go to the name of my phone. It says iPhone as one of the selections wireless or wired. Once there I tab and if the summary tab is selected, I can see battery. For music I select on this iPhone. I've never been able to remove or add music directly in the devices list, but by syncing. That is with no version. I have to select the music tab and do it that way.

I’d like to change my last response or add to it.
You are correct, you can’t see your battery level in the new iTunes.
I have 2 different computers with different versions.
You can however see the songs that are on the phone, and your playlist.
When I open my iTunes and have the phone connected wired or wireless I go over to iPhone and press enter.
Next I tab down until I get to the first list summary.
At that point, I have to use my arrow keys to select the item I want to change or alter.
The list is summary, apps, music, Movies, you understand.
I arrow to that selection, but I don’t press enter, I leave it set and tab down to see what is available.
The first music allows me to sync my library, but the second music, mine says 11 of 24 allows me to see the music that is on the phone and number of tracks.
In that section I see add to. When I click on the add to and find a song if I press my applications key, or turn on that menu, I can now delete the song from the device.
I’ve not done it that way, because all that is in my iTunes library is also on the phone, so they match exactly, but I can understand why that feature is available.
What I’ve not been able to do, even though I understand how, is delete songs directly from my phone using the phone.
What do you do to make it actually happen?

Just switch the rowder to actions (if it doesn't do it by default when your phone is focused on a song). Swipe up, and it should say "delete". Double tap, and bam. The song is gone. It's actually a lot easier to delete music from the phone, believe it or not! However, thank you for this method. It's exactly what I was looking for.

It's good to chare info. That way we can make this stuff work.
I've not had the phone deleting described in that fashion. I'll give it a go.
Thanks.

Post 17 by maddog (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Tuesday, 04-Nov-2014 8:25:36

Well, it could be different for you because you sync a library instead of doing a manual sync, but I'm honestly not sure. I've never done libraries before, myself. I never liked doing it like that, because I'm generally selective about which songs I want on my device. For me, the delete method does generally work, though. Give it a shot and let me know! I'd love to know whether or not it will work regardless of the method used to put songs onto the phone.

I tried, and it never shows me the delet. Might be I've got the 6.
Next time I'm over to the mall I'll go in to the Apple store and ask them to try.
I don't sync the library.
What I do is in iTunes I only keep the music I want on the phone, and much of that music I paste from my computers music folder.
Once I paste it, it adds to the phone, and when I want to remove something, I delete it, and it leave the phone.
I guess you could call that manual.
When iOS 8 was released, I swear the sound quality is better if you don't allow the phone to sync. I did this when I had some issues with the upgrade on my iPhone 5S, so did a factory reset to get that quality back.
On the new 6, I've never synced it yet. Lol.
Also, I buy music directly from iTunes as well either using the phone or the computer, so that music gets added, no syncing either.
Same with apps.
When I'm tired of a song I remove it and add something else, but everything stays in my computers library, not iTunes.
